Noori Issa

Noori Issa is a filmmaker and media specialist from Sinjar, dedicated to developing cultural and media projects that amplify local stories and preserve cultural heritage through cinema and digital arts. His work focuses on documenting community life, raising awareness through films, articles, and multimedia projects, and supporting initiatives that highlight the identity and resilience of the Yazidi community and surrounding areas.

He is the founder of “Sinjar Film Foundation”, the first local initiative to build a cinematic community in Sinjar, encouraging young filmmakers and storytellers to explore the power of film in healing and preserving culture. Alongside this, he collaborates with “Mirzo Music Foundation”, where he continues to document performances and heritage-based projects that use art and music as tools for self-expression and recovery.

Issa’s filmography includes work on international and local productions such as Felt: Unveiling an Endangered Craft (2023) with the British Museum’s EMKP, and the “Yazidi Community Archive” with Hawar.help and elbarlament, which led to exhibitions in Berlin and Kurdistan. In 2025, he received the “Nuhat Grant” with a filmmakers group in the program from the Duhok International Film Festival for a short film “A Different Perspective (2025)”. His artistic journey is driven by a deep belief that film and art are powerful ways to preserve memory, express identity, and connect communities.
